DU Introduces e-learning Online Portal

New Delhi: Delhi University (DU), introduces a new e-learning portal in order to facilitate Information and Communications Technology (ICT) learning in the university. The e-classes for its students have been uploaded on its online portal. The newly launched e-portal hosts e-quizzes, e-lectures, e-labs and e-lessons, these virtual classrooms, which have been developed by the Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL), will be an extension of actual classes.
As per sources, Deepak Pental, Vice Chancellor of DU, has inaugurated the workshop and spoke at length about the importance of ICT in higher education. He said that ICT is extremely important in higher education and can help in answering many problems that affect the quality of education that is being imparted in the university.
In addition, a one-day workshop on the launch of the e-classes held recently almost 40 teachers from various colleges under the university participated. During the course of the workshop, the teachers were made familiar about the process of registering on the online portal. These teachers would be called DU e-learning portal coordinators and will work as a link between DU’s Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL) and DU colleges.
According to the statement of AK Bakshi, Director of ILLL, a teacher usually has about 50 minutes for each class. Paucity of time hardly allows students to have exhaustive discussions about the lessons being taught. He added that this new feature will allow the students and teachers to interact at length.
The newly introduced e-classes would only be accessible to DU students who have joined the portal by contacting their e-learning portal coordinator. Moreover, the facility to join the portals would also be made available to teachers and students from the postgraduate department.
